Default another buyable building: Guild Market Hall

you could set up a market in town, plop in whatever items you want to sell and then users could come and browse your wares. Doesn't necessarily have to be guild connected, but just seems proper that way. It would be a better way to sell, more convenient for both sides, and it would add tremendously to the RP aspect as well.

i wouldnt mind if they did what ragnarok online has for selling items...

all you do is click the shop icon, put the items there, tell it how much they sell for and walk away...

was great... id put up all my items, go to work, and come home to a nice big wallet ^^

I really didn't like the way RO did it.

Why? Well you would walk into Prontera and BAM!!!

Flood city of icons, so annoying.

What would be nice, though, is to set up your shop, you sit down, it shows a little shop icon or whatever.

The person then types /shop and a huge list shows up of all the shops open in that town. By the shop name (whatever the person chooses to call it) it'd tell you what district they were in (or you could just buy it directly off the menu, whatever).

You then double click their name and it then tells you what they're selling.

That way when you're trying to walk to the dye trader you're not greeted with this:

Sure it's Korean, but it's the same on American servers too.

And that's just a SMALL portion of Prontera, too.

Every ingame item except quest items have a small icon you can click that will be sent to a database, an option will pop out:

1. Sell
2. Auction
3. Trade

Choosing option 1, will first find a buyer from a WTB list - this WTB list is created through an NPC for players who wants to buy a rune or a weapon with a specific stat or a ranged stat.

I.E. - WTB List

A.) Sword, 15-22, Req. 9 to 11, Dmg+13% to +15% while enchanted, 1k
B.) Crystalline Sword, 15-22, 1g
C.) Hale Staff Head, +9 to +15 HP, 50g
D.) 10x Minor Healing, 50k each
E.) Superior Healing, 30k

so if you are selling a crystalline sword 15-22, req 10, dmg+14% while enchanted, Armor+5 --- A & B will be shown

if a potential buyer/s is/are found, you can PM each other and talk it out.

if no buyers are found or if the potential buyer declined to buy it or the buyer is not online, it will be posted in the WTS list and any player can browse the list where they can filter out with a very broad selections and choices.

Choosing option 2, will ask for a deadline (max 3 days).

All items have a maximum of 3 days before they are purged from the database.

A maximum of 5 items(WTS, WTA, WTB & WTT) can only be queued for each player.

EQ's bazaar, best idea hands down best idea ever for OPRG, as far as trade location goes. If gw could be 1/10 like that I would be happier.

What about just buy a guild market for your guild halls. Kind of like an extension to it. The guild market of course starts of empty. your leader has to hire different types of mechents, each has there own space to go in the market. When a merchent is brought he automatically appears in the appropriate place in the marker extension.

Some ideas on merchents could be: A Clearing Vaultest (where people can set up an ebay kind of thing) where they can dump a maxium of 4 items into there special box. where they will be sold at a specific price the user has set. if no price has been set, (incase people try to scam and make it like another storage container) then that item is on sale for 1g. So when people goto the clearing vaultest, they see a simular layout to a shop except these items are from people. you drag the item you want into the buy box, and choose buy item. however to make sure the npc also gets paid he could also take a small cut out of the sold item. say 10% of the amount. There could be catagories too, like Weapons, sheilds, dye, materials, etc. When your item has been brought, a small dialouge box informs you, that your item was sold. and the amount of fund -npc earnings have been deposited to your storage account.

anyways going to bed, eyes hurt.. arrugh

I"d like to be able to set up a tent in a designated area, perhaps there could be limited spaces and a time limit for occupying a space. It would look more market-like, add niceness to the feel. Make it an option in any city, all cities with a bazaar street.

And that pic was Japanese and Chinese, but no korean... not that it matters, your point is still valid. no icons, just tents like the npc merchants have

I liked FFXI's system of buying/selling.

Their main outlet was an Auction House. You could place up to 7 items for sale. If you searched for an item, you would see the previous winning "bids". Most people would then place their item for sale for the same amount that people are bidding, but some people would place for more (and most likely not sell), or for less (these would sell first).

Kind of like setting a reserve price in eBay. Let's say that I want to buy a Minor Rune of Vigor. I would check the AH, and I would see that people had bid, say, 250 gold, and won. If I bid 200 gold, there is a slight chance I might win, IF someone has set their price to 200 gold. If no one has, then I wouldn't win anything, and I could bid again. If I bid 600 gold, of course I would win something, but of course I would've overpaid. If I wanted to SELL my minor rune, and wanted to get rid of it quickly, I could set my reserve price to 100 gold, or even 1 gold, and it would be the first to sell, because it was the lowest. If I tried to AH it for 300 gold, it may not sell at all, unless the demand is higher and the stock runs low, and the prices go up.

Buying/selling was only partially anonymous. If I am bidding, I can't search for a certain someone's item. However, looking at the log of previous bids, I could see who bought from who and for how much. It was anonymous for sellers too, as they would receive their money but it would say it was from the Auction House, not from a buyer. Money was sent directly to our Mog House via delivery. In GW, money could either be delivered directly to our storage, or it could be left at the Auction House, awaiting pickup.

FFXI also included a Bazaar option, for if you didn't want to sell in the AH and wanted to sell from your character directly. This option required your character to stay online. You would select items from your inventory, put it in your "bazaar" and set a price tag. Buyers could then view your bazaar (they knew you had one from the icon next to your name of a money bag) and purchase at the price you listed. Generally, to sell well, you would have to price lower than the AH. There was, of course, some spam in the Say/Shout commands with "CHECK OUT MY BAZAAR! PRICES ARE LOWER THAN THE AH!", but that's what we have a Trade channel for, and can be filtered out.

---

Well that's a summary of FFXI's trade system.

I really feel that GW should implement a searchable AH, built off not just one model, but by the many suggestions in the fansite forums. I don't feel that we NEED the bazaars (in FFXI, I generally just shopped at the AH, and very rarely at bazaar's, since most people never carried what I needed - unless I just needed cheap crafting materials).. but an AH would definitely help the economy out. Plus, with the auction log, we'd be able to see what the going price was of items.

So, if someone is trying to spam a Major Rune for 20K.. a player simply has to check an AH auction log, and if he sees the going price is actually 5K, then they can hopefully avoid being scammed and will purchase the item for the 'correct' price.

And the good thing is that, if players want to sell Superior Runes for an insane price like 100K, and the rest of the GW community disagrees? Then simply DON'T BUY from the AH - wait it out, and since demand will run low, the prices will drop. Or wait until more are in stock, and you may find one for a price you can afford.

I would like a system where everyone sets up shops... and what not... and when you go into the "auction"zone... have a search bar appliable, so you can easily search for any item/item type... and then, have the green arrow + green splash sign for the correct position of the person selling it... It would make things Really easy... and you would be able to see the prices that other people are selling the item for... so you can "bargain" shop, so to speak...

Of course... the whole auction house idea is in plan by anet... but don't expect too incredibly soon... or at least, i hope not Too incredibly soon... and for some reason, i think there should be more money types (currently platinum and gold)... i think they should split down platinum + gold... into bronze + silver + gold + platinum (or perhaps something else?)... 1000/1 each raise up... simply convert the money as is (if you have 300 platinum right now... it would convert down to 300 silver)... and then, i think the market would have PLENTY of time to "Shift"... and then, things wouldnt be the Max gold, or at least for a year or two (the way people farm so much...) and by that time, i'm sure they'll have plenty of money sinks in the game... that are worth while... personaly i find the 15k armor worth while, so they appeased me... but now im flat broke cause i try to get 1 superior rune + 1 superior vigor for each character... and mind you... i havent gotten one superior vigor... but meh... this post isnt about me... these are my idea's tho... to keep the economy in base... and workable...

yes i would definitely prefer an RO style selling system
their can be modifications to prevent floods of captions swallowing a city and no matter what, it sure the heck beats the current system of spaming shouts in the city console, hoping for a response.

just set up a special makret guy... like an auction house... also having one of these ing the guild hall is a good idea too... it'd take away all the WTS and WTB things and the list would be huge but, u can probbably group things together... hmmm i think this would work best in the guild hall... too many items and a huge list of items would make shopping tedious!

the problem with making this in the guild hall, is that not everyone is in a guild, let alone a guild with a guild hall. So, there would be a significant rush of people trying to join guilds to sell their items.

I definately support the idea of shops though, and if it is done how it is done on KO(Knight Online) then you only have to deal with seeing a lot of people when entering main towns like Droknars, Lions Arch and Ascalon. If you don't know how KO does it, they pretty much show the shop stand, and your character behind it. If someone wants to see what you have for trade, they can left click your character, and see everything you have to sell. Usually, you can tell by how items look if it's what you're looking for or not(or close to it). Then, periodically, it shows a message you input that tells your wares(if you make one). That could be put into the trade channel, so people not shopping wouldn't be spammed with trade stuff(obvious enough).

I think this way, people would get the most out of selling/buying, and you dont have to worry about going into a town that's overloaded, because the servers make sure that never happens :P

I think they should just create a sort of city that only has trade-related stuff. And then, you can put your auction house/Guild-markets/etc. there...

yes, that would probably work well. They could give it a colored border of blue or some such, and put it anywhere on the map already not taken up by other maps, and have it open to anyone(like the guild hall, you dont have to walk there or anything)

it would probably rack up the most amount of districts too...

I dont realy like that guild market house idea. Cause there are so many guilds out there you will have to check out all there markets if you want to see whats on the market in a certain city, very time consuming i think

very time consuming, but people like shopping (we live in a highly commercialized world). Also we have advertising via the trade channel.

I would be much more inclined to take part in the buying half of trading if I could browse things without needing to interact unless I had questions or wanted to chat.
